Fall is Here, But There Still Should Be a Spring in Your Step!

October is always busy in the book world, so there's barely been time for some of my favorite fall activities, like pumpkin-carving and pie-baking. And as things are beginning to gear up for the holidays, I know that downtime will not be in my vocabulary any time soon! Of course, all this work means that the new books are flowing in --- and we have some wonderful suggestions.

We have a special contest this month, where we're giving away 75 copies of the second book in Janelle Mowery’s Colorado Runaway series. WHEN LOVE GETS IN THE WAY tells the story of Grace Bradley, a woman who is fleeing the man her father wants her to marry. Enter the contest for a chance to win a copy of this heartwarming story!

And in our monthly contest, one reader will be chosen to receive a copy of THE MEASURE OF KATIE CALLOWAY, an historical romance from Serena Miller.

Another highlight this month is Lisa T. Bergren’s series, Lost in Time, which we're currently featuring on our Teenreads.com site. The three books in the trilogy, WATERFALL, CASCADE and TORRENT, tell the story of Gabriella and Evangelina Betarrini, the daughters of two archaeologists who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time --- centuries wrong, in fact. One day while they are exploring, they are shot back in time, and encounter a number of adventures while trying to return to the present. These books are definitely the type that will have you so absorbed, you lose track of time.

We're currently featuring reviews of books by bestselling authors Max Lucado, Joyce Meyer and Ted Dekker.

Is there a cohesive storyline to the chaos, confusion and clutter of your daily life? According to Max Lucado, the answer is a resounding yes! So what is the text of your life? Read GOD'S STORY, YOUR STORY: When His Becomes Yours and find out.

With her new book, LIVING BEYOND YOUR FEELINGS: Controlling Emotions So They Don't Control You, Joyce Meyer teaches us how to control our emotions before they can control us --- one of life’s most difficult tasks, but also one of the most important. How many times have I done something I regretted because I acted in the heat of the moment?

Speaking of emotions (or lack thereof), Ted Dekker and Tosca Lee's novel, FORBIDDEN, is a bleak thriller set in a world where the only emotion left is fear. Pick up a copy to find out how the characters attempt to escape this fate. This is the first in Dekker and Lee’s new Books of Mortals series; future installments will definitely be something to look forward to!

And for those who love “the biz,” heads up! The new book HELLO, HOLLYWOOD! by Janice Thompson gives a fictional, behind-the-scenes glance at a sitcom and all the wheeling-and-dealing involved in its production. Athena Pappas is the head writer for the show, but her job is in jeopardy --- as is her personal life, as she begins to fall for the guy who might take her place. Yikes! What a sitcom!

Enjoy the changing of the seasons everyone! Remember, the best way to heat yourself up as the nights get cold is to curl up with a good book --- and maybe lighting a nice fire and sipping some hot apple cider as well!

Special Contest and Feature: WHEN LOVE GETS IN THE WAY by Janelle Mowery

We are celebrating the release of WHEN LOVE GETS IN THE WAY --- the story of Grace Bradley, who is fleeing the man her father chose to be her husband --- with a special contest. 75 readers will have the opportunity to each win a copy of the second book in Janelle Mowery’s Colorado Runaway series. The deadline for entries is Friday, November 11th at noon ET.

WHEN LOVE GETS IN THE WAY: Colorado Runaway Series, Book 2 by Janelle Mowery
Grace Bradley wishes all she touches would turn to gold. Instead, it tends to tarnish…that is, until she finds freedom on the Double K Ranch. Cade Ramsey contemplates running for dear life from the accident-prone nuisance he brought to his hometown. The trouble that trails her seems to latch on to him at every turn. But when Grace manages to win his calloused heart, he chases her down, praying he can keep her from following through on a decision that could ruin their lives.
