Whether the Calendar Says It or Not, It's SUMMER!

After weeks and months of waiting, it feels like summer is here (even though the calendar says it's still spring). The weather in the New York area has been beautiful --- sunny and hot --- feeling more like August than June. My gardens are starting to take shape; even the seeds are sprouting, which always amuses me. I assume they will not grow. I put TWO packages of basil seeds in one pot, which still has my husband laughing. It looks like a lawn of basil plants. There are few better pleasures this time of year than relaxing outside with a good book, or a stack of them. Lemonade or iced tea always helps, too.

While Memorial Day has come and gone, Father’s Day is not too far behind, which means it's time for our annual Father's Day roundup. For one day out of 365, we celebrate fathers. But our father’s love, encouragement and support last more than 24 hours. Our featured titles provide inspiration, wisdom and humor that surely will last beyond June 20th.

We are pleased to be hosting two contests this month. 25 readers will have the opportunity to each win a copy of CROSSING OCEANS by Gina Holmes, an unforgettable novel about a woman returning home to confront her past, and we're giving away 75 copies of Kaye Dacus's RANSOME'S CROSSING, the second installment in her Ransome Trilogy.

In addition to CROSSING OCEANS, we have added study guides for THIS FINE LIFE by Eva Marie Everson, about a young woman who contemplates life after graduation, and IT HAD TO BE YOU, the third book in Janice Thompson's popular Weddings by Bella series. Other spotlighted titles include more series continuations: WILDFLOWER BRIDE: Montana Marriages, Book 3 by Mary Connealy, BETSY'S RETURN: Brides of Lehigh Canal, Book 2 by Wanda E. Brunstetter, SING: The Homeward Trilogy, Book 2 by Lisa T. Bergren, and HEADING HOME: Indian Island Trilogy, Book 3 by Renee Riva. And don't miss all our reviews, which include SIXTEEN BRIDES by Stephanie Grace Whitson and I AM HUTTERITE by Mary-Ann Kirkby.

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association announced the winners of the 2010 Christian Book Awards last month. Click here to see the winning titles and find out which book was named Christian Book of the Year.

We'll be back later in the month with another newsletter. But until then, enjoy taking a look at all our featured titles. And most importantly, Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there. We salute you with the hamburger flipper!

FaithfulReader.com's Father's Day Roundup
For one day out of 365, we celebrate fathers. But our father’s love, encouragement and support last more than 24 hours. The relationship dynamic between a father and child, or a husband and wife, is utterly expansive and enables both to grow and develop together. While this relationship, by its very nature, is positive, our fathers or husbands have also experienced obstacles along the way. A number of the titles in this year’s Father’s Day roundup deal with such experiences and show that through faith and God, these challenges aren’t so insurmountable. Our selections provide inspiration, wisdom and humor that surely will last beyond June 20th.
